Owen Powered Access can offer training on all types of powered access equipment via Britannia Safety and Training - the courses take place in Wymondham -Norfolk, in a modern training enviroment with small group sizes to maintain high standards. The content is a mix of a mix of theory and practical, the duration is usually one day.
On successfull completion of training the student is issued with the PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) which is recognised worldwide across industries as proof of platform operator training to the highest standard.
It is issued by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) to platform operators who successfully complete a training course at an IPAF-approved training centre.
The IPAF training programme was developed by leading industry professionals and is certified by TÜV as conforming to the international standard ISO 18878:2004 Mobile elevating work platforms – Operator (driver) training.
The PAL Card is valid for five years. It shows the date on which the holder was assessed and the expiry date by which re-training would be needed. It also shows the types of equipment the holder is permitted to operate and the to what level the holder has been trained. I.e Operator, Demonstrator, Instructor
Who needs training?
In short, You do. If you need to work at height and use access equipment safely as an employer or employee you will benefit from professional training, In addition to your main job you will acquire a new skill boosting productivity and reducing the chances of lost time due to accident or injury.
Platforms are designed to be easy to use but with basic training you will use the equipment more effectively and safely.
As an employer:
You can be sure that legal requirements have been fulfilled if your platform operators have IPAF training.
Most legislation, covering health and safety obligations, accident prevention and work at height regulations, require you to provide employees with proper and adequate training in the use of work equipment.
IPAF training is also available for persons responsible for managing platforms and training 'MEWPS for Managers'
